About the Job

The Senior Director of Marketing Insights in Marketing Operations assists the Vice President of Marketing Operations in driving the strategy, development and ongoing operational management of fact-based reporting, analysis and analytical models used to enhance decision-making across the marketing function. They support the organization with insights and predictive models used to produce improved results. This role leads a team of analysts to support analytical and reporting work that spans the functional areas of marketing, as well as outside stakeholders to marketing data.

The Senior Director of Marketing Insights will be responsible for assessing existing analytics processes, capabilities & gaps, gaining a deep understanding of industry best practices and trends, assessing Akamai’s 1-2 year Marketing vision, and developing a roadmap to deliver on that vision. This will involve streamlining and standardizing existing reporting, bringing reporting produced by disparate teams in disparate tools into one environment, performing technology change assessments, assessing audiences & cadences of data reporting, and driving an always-on, self-service mindset to reporting, while providing more business insight and analysis to overlay the self-service approaches. They will work very closely with IT & the Director of Martech to build the technology roadmap and co-manage the systems, and will source requirements from across Akamai’s distributed and matrixed Marketing organization. • Develop dashboards and standardized reporting environments to provide ongoing insight to marketing stakeholders, then work to ensure utilization and adoption of reporting by these stakeholders

  • Evolve reports from pure data read-outs to solutions that “tell a story”, and speak in the language of the teams who consume them, to deliver obvious & actionable insights to resolve issues or emphasize strengths

  • Drive self-service capabilities for marketers, while supporting cross-functional leaders with hand-developed insights

  • Create and maintain appropriate marketing key performance indicators and ROI models for marketing campaigns and out-of-campaign activities to determine effectiveness

  • Develop reporting solutions to support multi-touch marketing attribution

  • Provide insights through advanced, predictive models to determine marketing mix, propensity to buy, next best offer and customer lifetime value, then assist marketing teams in using these models to adjust their tactical mixes

  • Work with product marketing and campaign leaders to improve segmentation through analysis of prospect and customer groups

  • Advise marketing operations functions on data requirements necessary to perform desired analyses; participate in the development of process modifications needed to deliver required data

  • Drives data quality efforts, such as cleanups or changes in definitions (supported by Data Steward)

  • Builds out and executes plans for IT systems support for analytics, such as standing up new data warehouses or dashboarding solutions.

  • Excellent organization, communication, program, and process management skills. Hands-on leadership and detail/process orientation. Ability to problem solve, identify root causes of obstacles and address fundamental systemic and operational issues to accelerate results. Continuous improvement orientation.
