Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing leadership for the contract and housing assignment unit within Housing Operations at the University at Buffalo. Specific responsibilities include: creating and managing all processes and procedures associated with room/apartment assignments to ensure “best fit” between housing assignment and the student; create, manage and oversee contracts, billings and housing applications, including managing appropriate software programs. This position serves as a liaison with other departmental units, other university departments and special interest groups in regard to housing. Responsibilities also include gathering and assessing data on customer needs and satisfaction and college housing trends. This position is responsible for providing supervision and training of professional, clerical and student staff. Additionally, they will provide information and training to other departmental staff members regarding the housing operations assignment process.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of professional experience is required. Experience should include serving in a supervisory capacity, highly developed computer skills, excellent communication skills and positive customer service skills. Demonstrated success in initiating, training, executing and managing multi-facet processes and a proven ability to work with a diverse staff and student population. Documented experience is needed in detail orientated work and performing in a multi-task environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree with more than 3 years of experience in directly supervising a staff and achieving strategic goals in a high-paced, multi-faceted housing or business style environment or experience in working in a higher education environment, preferably in a housing operations office, that deals with a large on-campus population. Specific experience in the area of housing assignments and the ability to lead a team through software upgrades/transitions is highly desirable.
