JOB REQUIREMENTS: Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material. Adjust ram strokes of presses to specified lengths, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate machines. Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws. Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools. Load workpieces, plastic material, or chemical solutions into machines. Lubricate workpieces with oil. Mark identifying data on workpieces. Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances. Set blade tensions, heights, and angles to perform prescribed cuts, using wrenches. Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes. Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material. Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data. Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools. Turn controls to set cutting speeds, feed rates, or table angles for specified operations. Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. Place workpieces on cutting tables, manually or using hoists, cranes, or sledges. Plan sequences of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of workpiece materials. Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices. Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies. Replace defective blades or wheels, using hand tools. Scribe reference lines on workpieces as guides for cutting operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Set up tools and dies on advanced press brake machinery to ensure timely completion of customer jobs. Align and Secure dies, adjust ram stroke, set safety devices. Coordinate with shift supervisor to assign priority and personnel to specific jobs and cells Processing and measuring metal components to customer specifications. Perform first piece inspections as well as subsequent inspections as requested from shift supervisor. Must be capable of verifying their own set-ups dimensionally before submitting parts to Quality Control for final approval, Keeps an accurate records of number of pieces made and of routine equipment maintenance. Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task. Keep work area clean and organized. Coordinate with shift supervisor to assign priority and personnel to specific jobs and cells Mechanically inclined, excellent spatial reasoning skills. Some experience working on a computer. Must be a detail oriented person willing and able to contribute to a team effort. Begin and finish each day with a zero defect mentality and commitment to producing a quality, American made product. Blueprint reading. Minimum 1 year Brake Press experience required. (2 or more years' experience preferred) Solid background working with sheet metal. Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
