Cloud application operations support engineer

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As an Applications support Analyst based in Brisbane but working as part of a larger global team, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing Level 2 and 3 application maintenance and support to enable system availability, reliability and achievement of service level requirements;

  • Resolving application issues in Production, manage issues and escalating them into incidents if necessary;

  • Work as part of a global application support team, providing 24 hour coverage

  • Working on operations projects for continual improvement and engaging with software development teams

  • Developing operational and system documentation to enable effective maintenance and support of applications

  • Report and track resolution of errors to development organizations and senior operations teams

Essential skills

Ideally you will have some experience working with most of the following elements:

  • 2 - 3 years support/operations experience in a Microsoft Windows environment, with a successful delivery track record.

  • Prior experience working in a Helpdesk / Applications support role

  • Windows server 2008/2012/2016 administration including IIS

  • Active directory experience

  • Strong Powershell scripting and automation experience

  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking

  • Exceptional problem solving skills

  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Be technically adept with an ability to quickly understand and articulate new product technical requirements

  • Ability to coordinate operational tasks, customer escalations, process improvements

Desirable skills

In addition to the above, exposure to any of the following would be considered a plus:

  • Experience gained working in large landscapes / environments where .net applications are running

  • Microsoft Clustering

  • Microsoft SQL administration and troubleshooting

  • Linux, Apache Web servers Apache

  • Understanding of Load balancer and firewall concepts

  • Standard routing of public networks

  • Virtualisation experience

  • Storage SAN & NAS

  • Security aspects, and Virtual IP, DNS, DHCP concepts

  • Some exposure or understanding of Monitoring tools such as Splunk, Zabbix, Pingdom, Moogsoft, Solarwinds

  • Operations process and/or DevOps knowledge is an advantage

  • Experience in.NET application support development and/or triage and troubleshooting a strong plus

  • Understanding of operational frameworks like ITIL/ITSM.
