The Role: Xylem seeks to hire an Operator / Field Service to Assist in the set-up and operation of pumps, hoses, pipe and other pumping accessories on customer job sites. This includes loading of pumps, hoses, pipes and other pumping accessories on/off Xylem Dewatering delivery trucks and/or third party freight carriers, staging equipment for installation, scheduled pump watch and demobilization of project site upon completion.
Specific Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions
Safely load equipment and accessories on/off vehicle
Safe operation of diesel powered hydraulic lifting equipment; i.e. forklifts, front-end loaders, tow motors, etc. to load and unload equipment
Safely set-up Xylem pumping equipment and assist in maintaining orderliness of job site; utilize fusion machines to safely and properly fuse HDPE pipe of varying lengths, diameters and configurations
Perform daily visual inspections of equipment and job site and document any items in need of service
Obey all Xylem and customer safety rules
Communicate with Supervisor, Engineer, Outside Salesman, Branch Manager or Regional Director who is on site.
Available for on-call off-hours assignments as necessary for emergencies
Available for extended out-of-town travel with limited notice
Abilities and Skills
Ability to safely operate diesel powered hydraulic lifting equipment: i.e. forklifts, front end loaders, tow motors, boom, etc.
Demonstrated ability to fuse HDPE pipe ranging in diameter from 4 inch to 36 inch.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers both verbally and in writing
Ability to secure travel reservations (hotel, flight, car, train, etc.) and reconcile expense reports.
Valid state issued driver license; commercial license preferred
Medical card preferred
Forklift certification preferred
Fusion certification preferred
