State of Massachusetts Director of Operations in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation system, managed by the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA), is rated as one of the best workers’ compensation systems in the nation. DIA’s mission is to administer the Commonwealth’s Workers’ compensation system and to provide prompt and fair compensation to victims of occupational injuries and illnesses, and to see that medical treatment to injured workers is provided in a timely manner while balancing the needs of employers to certain workers’ compensation insurance costs.

The Director of Operations assists the Director in the overall administration of the DIA. The incumbent will provide advice to the DIA Director on policy development, personnel, and state ethics issues. The Director of Operations is charged with supervising and overseeing operations of various units within the Department, including the Public Information Unit and DIA support to the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council. Additionally, he/she will act as the point person for creating DIA’s 3-5 year written strategic plan and DIA’s marketing communications plan. These projects will require working directly with the DIA Director as well as the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) and DIA senior managers.

Salary placement is determined by years of experience and education directly related to the position and the Human Resources Division's recruiting guidelines and policies.


MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) fiveyears of full-time, or equivalent part-time, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, or public administration and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a managerial capacity.
