Paint/Blast Booth OperatorBossier City, LA

Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets daily workloads to determine what parts and shafts are required, and prioritize according to shipping buffer.

  • Determines what products are needed, locates and identifies products to be brought in for painting.

  • Occasionally operates forklift truck and straddle truck to move products into painting facility.

  • Sort product to be painted according to finish required and size of parts in order to get efficient use of the equipment.

  • Uses overhead crane and lowerator to load products for conveying through the blasting and painting processes.

  • Operates conveyor system to move rail dollies to successive stages of blasting, spray coating, and oven curing.

  • Monitors level of blasting media in the storage hopper, and add material when needed.

  • Manually wraps finish painted poles after product has exited the oven and cooled.

  • Uses digital film thickness gauge to measure film thickness to assure product has adequate paint thickness and coverage according to Valmont Industries, Inc. specifications. Log thickness readings on log sheet for tracking purposes.

  • Uses proper measures to assure long and productive life of all equipment and facilities. Includes immaculate housekeeping at all times.

  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly operator preventative maintenance on designated equipment.

  • While moving through the department performing his or her duties, maintains high level of alertness regarding safety and housekeeping. When movement of products exposes unkempt areas, takes immediate action to clean up dunage and debris.

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools

  • Must be able to work efficiently without supervision

  • Must be able to read and understand instructions

  • Must be self-motivated

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent

Shift:

  • Monday - Friday, 6 am - 4:45 pm, Overtime and Weekends as needed (Days)
