POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager is responsible to assist in the co-ordination of departmental activities, goals and objectives in accordance with company policies and procedures. With high visibility to this position, the successful candidate must be enthusiastic, tenacious, and able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain Operating procedures.

  • Oversee, manage and prioritize production priorities.

  • Responsible to ensure all operating and safety policies are adhered to by all hourly employees.

  • Commitment to produce safe food and safe food handling by ensuring employees adhere to supporting policies and procedures.

  • Maintaining and editing employee’s hours in the Kronos payroll system.

  • Working with the Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize work.

  • Be available within reason for shift work, overtime, and emergency call-ins.

  • Perform Fire Prevention duties as a member of the Fire Brigade in accordance with the “Fire Safety-Emergency Evacuation Plan”.

  • Maintain good moral, discipline and work ethic.

  • Report to the Human Resources Department as well as to the Manufacturing Manager any priority conflicts, work in progress issues or plant rules and safety infractions.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Experience – 2 to 5 years total professional experience in a manufacturing environment in progressively responsible roles.

  • Operations/Engineering/Manufacturing Experience – Minimum 5 years’ experience and successful track record in roles such as Operations/Maintenance Management, Quality Management or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Food or Similar Industry Experience – Experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical or CPG industry in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Quality – Must have had experience in an industry where high-quality standards are present (e.g., SQF in Food Industry or ISO in non-food industry).

  • Change Management – Demonstrated history of successful change implementation and implementing of operational excellence improvements.

  • Project Management – Formal training and/or work experience in managing mid-to-large scale projects.

  • Unionized Workforce – Experience with unionized workforce strongly preferred but not required.

  • Computer Proficiency - Proficiency in MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as Project Software.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College/University Diploma/Degree in a relevant discipline or extensive plant manufacturing experience (min. 3 years)

  • Computer knowledge in Word, Excel, Access and Internet communications.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Verbal and written proficiency in English

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • The Operations Manager will oversee all production supervisors in the plant.

PRIMARY INTERFACE

The Operations Manager will primarily interface with Operations team members at site locations. This will include, but is not limited to, Plant Managers, Leadership Team members, Engineers, Front-Line Supervisors and hourly associates. Secondarily, the Operations Manager will interface with the Leadership Team for the Operations organization.

TRAVEL

The position will require 5-10% travel; primarily domestic and occasionally international.
