Overview:

The primary objective of the HSES part of the role is to develop, coordinate and maintain the facility's Health, Safety, Environmental and Site Security programs and ensure compliance with EHS regulations, safety policies, process improvements and loss control programs to reduce the potential for accidents and incidents in the work place. In addition, this job also supports the operations of the plant and backs up the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager in their absence.

Responsibilities:

Liaise with managers and staff throughout the organization to ensure that the RC/HSES systems are functioning properly

Working with purchasing staff to establish requirements from external suppliers /contractors

Ensuring compliance with standards and legislation

Considering the application of environmental and health and safety standards

Identifying relevant RC/HSES- and other related training needs and deliver/arrange training as required

Ensure compliance with RC/HSES programs

Contractor management/ISN system

Fully understands all operations of the plant and can provide backup support to other members of the Management Team including the Plant Manager

HSES

Choosing hazardous waste contractors, coordinate, prepare manifests, maintain profiles for liquid, solid and universal waste streams

Air emission permitting and related maintenance and paperwork, enter monthly emissions data

Wastewater discharge and related maintenance and paperwork, interface with EMT and MWRD

Reporting hazardous waste records to the EPA including SARA, and RCRA reporting forms

Maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on hazardous materials used in the workplace

Accurately maintain all required records

Industrial Hygiene (http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/8974/job3.htm?20092#job6#job6) , Monitoring of employee exposure to hazards

Employee Safety Training / Hazard Communication ("Haz Comm") - coordinate, conduct, assign training

Maintain Fall Protection, LO, CSE, Safe Work Permitting programs

Maintain plant HSES policies and procedures in LN system

Maintain plant Emergency Response Plan and Safety contingency plans

Air monitor - coordinate INet upgrades and maintenance, ensure availability

Meeting local fire regulations, and insurance industry (http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/8974/job11.htm) requirements, plant contact for BPFD, etc.

Public Relations for EHS requirements

Security

Coordinate security system maintenance and upgrades with contractor

Maintain security alarm codes, etc. and users/access cards

Other

RC 14001Management representative - maintain RC manual, management review, selected documents (Aspects/Impacts, LAOR, Interested Parties) and plant RC site

HR support - check time sheets, submit payroll, track vacation and sick days, ECA, FMLA paperwork, local employee files and records.

Responsible for ensuring correct regulatory product labeling- working with Corporate Regulatory department

Support Operations, Maintenance and Wastewater treatment.

Experience working within batch chemical manufacturing environment

RC/EHS experience knowledge

Environmental compliance and OSHA compliance experience

Metalworking company / industrial lubricant experience

Project management

10+ years relevant experience

Education

Degree in chemistry/engineering/environmental science
