John B. Sanfilippo Forklift Operator I in Bainbridge, Georgia

The forklift operator I is qualified to operate electric pallet jacks and/or sit-down and is in training to operate stand-up forklift. The person in this position possesses entry level skills to perform the day to day activities within the receiving/warehouse department, including raw receiving dock, finished goods dock or production line support.

The Forklift Operator I is qualified to operate electric pallet jacks and/or sit down forklifts. The person in this position possesses entry level skills to unload/load trucks, performs put away of materials using a sit down forklift. The Forklift Operator I is also responsible for changing equipment batteries.

  • Unloads trucks/containers of raw or FG (finished goods) items, verifies receipt to order documentation, signs and stamps bill of lading, receives inventory into the system using WMS scanning equipment, and verifies/applies LP’s as directed. Picks work order demands, stages product for production use and returns unused items back to inventory.

  • Inspects trucks and documents findings. Transfers processed product into FG or coolers storage location.

  • Keeps receiving/warehouse area clean and organized. Sweeps, picks up trash, tapes up any open cases and organizes empty pallets, etc.

  • Changes equipment batteries, conducts pre-op inspection on all material handling equipment used and reports any equipment issues or damages. Properly uses and cares for hand-held scanning equipment.

  • Rotates inventory and follows FIFO(first in-first out) or FEFO (first expired-first out) process, depending on job function.

  • Adheres to all safety and GMP rules, including allergen segregation and organic product handling. Attends assigned training.

  • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.

  • Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.

  • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.

  • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.

  • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

  • Forklift driving experience and knowledge of safe forklift operation.

  • Material handling equipment certification preferred.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Basic math skills.

Job Specific Requirements:

In the event that the Forklift Driver is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
