The Challenge Ahead:

Distill complexity and provide transparency related to cost allocations, metrics, budgets and infrastructure supply vs. demand. You will utilize your outstanding organizational, communications, analytical and problem solving skills in delivering results through collaboration with our teams in Technology Infrastructure, Game Studio Finance, Procurement, Global Sourcing, and Accounting. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Finance in the Technical Operations group based in Austin, TX.

What this Senior Financial Analyst will do at EA:

This role will oversee Opex budgeting and spending for EA’s rapidly growing online infrastructure team (Tech Ops), which is a central area in achieving our company’s digital strategy. You will be managing costs across data center management, content delivery networks, 3rdparty hosting, and related areas.

This role will have a foundation in traditional FP&A responsibilities including:

  • Business Partnering – be the finance liaison to facilitate business owners’ success

  • Financial Reporting – lead financial reviews, conduct variance analysis

  • Monthly and Quarterly Close – prepare accrual and reclass entries to reflect accurate accounting

  • Financial Modeling – analyze financial data to identify trends, savings opportunities, and ROI

You will need to be able to manage large data sets and use creative technical solutions in driving complex report development and reverse engineering of existing tools and reports.

EA’s next great Senior Financial Analyst also needs to have:


  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference for Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business Administration

  • Extra considerations for Master level degrees

  • 2+ years’ experience in business analytics, finance, or demand/capacity management, preferably supporting a technology organization


  • Expert Excel knowledge and experience

  • Data Modeling and analytics (logical, conceptual, and physical levels)

  • Business Intelligence and visualization tools i.e. Power BI, Tableau, etc.

  • One or more of the following:

  • VBA experience

  • Extraction Transformation and Loading (ETL) and related tools (e.g. SQL Server Integration Services SSIS)

  • Data Analytics Stack (e.g. SQL Server Analysis Services – SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, non-Microsoft comparable tools)

  • Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and report cubes

Communication and Critical Thinking

  • Strong overall communications, presentation, facilitation and diplomacy skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment

  • Business acumen with understanding of functional linkages and ability to build strong professional relationships with business partners in both operational and financial roles

  • Problem solving skills, ability to prioritize and work independently

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team

  • Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management, staff and vendors

  • Comfortable with ambiguous problems and independently developing solutions

  • Strong organizational skills
