Support the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (DHS/S&T) Directorate modeling and simulation (M&S) capability. The purpose of this M&S capability is for DHS/S&T to provide a range of analytical activities to support DHS’s Joint Requirements Council and/or other DHS Operating Components. The candidate will work with mid and senior level analysts in the use of M&S tools such as the Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM), OneSAF, or other discrete event simulations. Also required is the ability to proficiently use commercially available or open source tools such as MATLAB’s Simulink and Image Processing Toolkits when required to develop data and inform clients.

New Hire Success Factors:

  • 30 days Integrated with team, accounts set up, has become familiar with existing tools.

  • 60 days Familiar with EADSIM inputs/outputs

  • 90 days Capable of running EADSIM and associated analysis tools, familiar with output, beginning understand of Python and has a path forward on existing / new tools to modify / develop within the next 6 months.

  • Candidate should have at least 0-4 years of experience working with or supporting modeling, simulation and analysis efforts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as EADSIM, OneSAF or STK is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Applicant should have some experience in system engineering and working knowledge in at least one programming language (such as C++, Java, Python, R).

  • The candidate must have good interpersonal skills and strong communications skills, both written and verbal.

  • The candidate must be able to work independently with little supervision.

  • The applicant must be able to possess and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance.
