Serve as operational specialist on field operations and responsible for supporting the administrative needs of the Operations Department in a safe and quality-conscious manner. Maintain a professional attitude towards customers, co-workers, supervisors, and other employees while working in a fast paced environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Achieve and maintain a high level of understanding operational systems
Demonstrate excellent decision making ability, and be able to perform well with little guidance
Manage assigned operational budget and purchasing in assigned areas in accordance with predetermined goals
Manage and maintain inventory and status of all tote tanks within the facility
Develop processes and procedures to eliminate recurring daily operational issues including asset based and performance based assets
Ensure the Operations Supervisors and Terminal Operators have the proper training and tools to meet the requirements of their positions and meet company policies/procedures
Completion of First Alternate entries into Galahad for completed product movements
Forecast and complete internal and external audit requirements for assigned tasks
Maintain adherence to DOT, OSHA, EPA, FRA, and USCG regulations as well as various other guidelines, standards, and company operating procedures
Act as the Terminal Training Point of Contact (POC)
Administer, assemble and track training materials and completions for EHS and Operational training tasks
Prepare purchase requisitions as needed
Maintain uniform program tracking
Administer and maintain PPE inventory and re-ordering
Track and maintain overtime usage and provide reports as necessary
Manage Union vacation and job bidding procedures on an annual and as needed basis
Establish and maintain solid relationships with customers, carriers and KM Departments/employees by addressing questions and concerns with speed and professionalism
Perform tasks as directed by management and established procedures
Perform job related special assignments as required
- Associates Degree; applicable industry experience may be used as an equivalent
Must have 3-5 years of experience; hazardous liquids and aboveground storage tanks preferred
Experience working in a union environment preferred
Must have strong computer skills and proficiency with PC software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and databases)
Must be able to work quickly and make informed decisions independently and accurately under pressure
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision and be able to split time between industrial and office environments during daily operations
Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules and follow work rules
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
Ability to effectively and professionally present and collect information
Normal business hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Must be flexible to work variable hours outside of normal business hours to meet the demands of the business
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs; the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, to handle or feel objects. Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hart, goggles, safety glasses, steel toe boots). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Mandatory drug screen and background check upon hire and must successfully obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by the Transportation Security Administration at the start of employment.
