Position Description

The position will be a daylight operator position on an 8 day (10 hours a day) on, 6 day off schedule including weekends and holidays.

The Altamont Operations Specialist serves a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operations of the Altamont Field Stations and gathering facilities. Altamont Gathering Field Stations employs a multitude of processes which include station batteries for condensate ,water, and gas processing, produced gas, , VRU's, pumps, H2S treating, Glycol Dehydration, Engine/ Compressor sets, station pigging facilities and other associated infrastructure. Production vessels and piping systems contain H2S and hydrocarbon gases and liquids which are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances.

Position Requirements

Physical demands:

•Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.

•Exposure to smells and fumes associated with refined petroleum products.

•May lift weights up to 50 pounds unassisted. Help should be secured for weight in excess of that amount.

•Employee must be able to gauge and climb tanks with 50 to 80 steps on a routine basis.

•Must be capable of manually operating a block valve up to 12” in diameter.

•Uses all senses especially sight, hearing, and smell in observation and detection of irregularities.

•Work is performed outside in varying and sometimes extreme weather situations.

•Perform physical labor in a variety of extreme climatic conditions, including walking, bending, stooping, climbing tanks, digging, lifting and general manual labor.

•Work is labor intensive at times and involves repetitive actions such as stooping, bending, squatting, walking, digging.

•Job requires extensive walking on a daily basis.

Working Conditions:

•Expected to carry company phone and respond to calls.

•Position subject to 24-hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

•Overtime required and extended work hours in cases of emergencies.

•Will be required to work alone (unsupervised).

•The majority of work time will be spent outdoors and the employee must be physically fit and capable of working in a variety of weather conditions, including desert hot and cold temperatures, humidity, dryness, etc.

Responsibilities and Position Requirements:

  1. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

  2. Requires working on call and call out schedules, including evenings and holidays.

    1. Availability for call outs within 30 minutes during shift or when required
  3. Promote the Company's EHS philosophy and culture.

  4. Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns

    1. Monitoring of station equipment to meet regulatory requirements
  5. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

    1. May be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs or ladders, use hand tools, and reach with hands and arms.
  6. Operation of gathering, treating, and compression equipment to maintain designated gathering pipeline operating conditions.

    1. Surveillance of automated station operations
  7. Troubleshooting and maintenance of station equipment.

    1. Shutdown and startup of equipment (pumps, compressors, facilities, other equipment, etc.)
  8. Lockout and Tag-out duties for maintenance work.

    1. Interact with company and contract personnel.

    2. Complete all appropriate documentation.

    3. Provide oral and written communication of activities to appropriate personnel.

    4. Write Maintenance Work Orders as needed.

  9. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Solid safety and environmental practices

    1. Basic math and computer skills

    2. Must be able to handle multiple tasks

    3. Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Office applications.

  2. Must be a self-starter with a high drive for results

    1. Must have good time management skills and be able to handle multiple tasks at same time.
  3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

    1. Experience analyzing and maintaining controls and valves
  4. Background in natural gas gathering, condensate production equipment and field compressor station operations
